About This Role
DBE Publishing is seeking an Onomastician — a specialist in the study of names — to ensure the names of characters, places, and concepts throughout the DBE universe are culturally accurate, meaningful, and internally consistent.
- Review and advise on character names across DBEBooks manuscripts
- Research cultural, linguistic, and historical significance of names
- Help develop naming conventions for fictional languages and cultures in the Planet X Universe
- Ensure consistency of names across the DBE universe
- Advise on pronunciation guides and name variations for translation
Qualifications
- Academic or professional background in linguistics, onomastics, or related field
- Deep knowledge of multicultural naming traditions
- Strong research and analytical skills
Nice to Have- Experience with speculative fiction or world-building
- Familiarity with African, Samoan, Caribbean, or other diaspora naming traditions
